Our homework policy is 10 minutes of homework for every grade level. For example, 4th graders should be completing 40 minutes of homework a day. 5th graders, 50 minutes. Homework can consist of independent reading, studying spelling words, or practicing math facts if no other specific homework is passed out.
If a student does not finish something in class for whatever reason, that is also considered homework due the very next school day. This will be the most common reason why your child would receive homework. Please keep in mind that if your child is receiving homework every night it is most likely because they are talking too much in class. Students should have plenty of time to finish their work in class unless they are not focusing.
EVERY WEDNESDAY students will be completing a Language Arts homework assignment. This will be due Thursday MORNING when the students come in.
At times, we pass out homework or distribute it in Friday Folders. If this is the case, a due date will be placed on the paper.
If a student is absent it is their responsibility to collect their homework upon their return. Students have as many days as they were absent to turn the work in. For example, is a student was absent 2 days, after they collect the homework they will have 2 days to return it.
