Parent Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian,

            My name is Mr. Jason Hislop, and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as your child’s new Algebra I teacher.  It is my pleasure to serve our community in a way that benefits and enriches your child, helping them become productive members of society. 

I believe that my primary role as a teacher is to help foster critical thinking, ensuring students to think for themselves, all the while creating an environment to optimize student learning.  As your student’s teacher, I plan to enthusiastically teach Algebra/Calculus as well as challenge each student in order to promote student learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  I will utilize differing teaching styles to accommodate the students’ needs throughout each unit and provide a safe learning environment for all to learn. 

My goal is to see your child succeed in this course.  In order to achieve success, I believe that parent and community involvement is essential in your child’s secondary educational career.  Therefore I will occasionally contact you to keep you informed of what is happening in the classroom.  I also encourage you to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.  I will be available before and after school, or you may reach me by phone or e-mail.
