Biography of Mrs. Stewart

 My name is April Stewart and I am the Physical Education teacher at Summit Academy.  I have been teaching Physical Education for 7 years.  This is my 3rd year at Summit Academy.  I am so excited to be teaching here...in my hometown of Flat Rock, Michigan!  I have been married for 15 years and have two daughters (Maggie 6, Morriah 4).  I graduated high school from Carlson High School in Gibraltar, Michigan where I participated in volleyball, cheerleading, softball, and track.  This is where I fell in love with sports, physical fitness, and competitions.  This led me to graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's in Physical Education and a minor in Health.

My goal is to help students develop the knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, behavioral skills, and confidence needed to adopt and maintain physically active lifestyles. The outcomes of my physical education program include the development of students' physical competence, health-related fitness, self-esteem, and overall enjoyment of physical activity.
