Parent letters and Expectations

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 7th grade Social Studies.  The beginning of the 2012-2013 school year is upon us.  I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer!

My Name is Mrs. Amie Adamkiewicz and I am the 7th grade Social Studies teacher for Summit Academy North Middle School.  I have been teaching with the District for 5 years.  I am eager to start another outstanding school year!

This year is going to be full of activity.  I spent some time this summer coming up with new, fun, and exciting activities.  I am very technology based, and will be doing activities that require students to be engaged in the technology and use of their computers.

As we venture through the school year together there are a few things I would like to request.

-If you have any question please contact me through email or a phone.  I love to talk to parents and keep them informed.  I love to make positive phone calls throughout the year.  Please understand that I might not be able to return your call or email right away, but I will return it by the next day.

-I believe that all students must take an active part in their classrooms.  To make this happen students will be asked to help come up with some of the rules and polices for the class to follow.  I feel that when students make some of the decision in the class, it helps them to follow the rules more and take ownership and pride in their work and themselves.  I feel that all students must be on time to class and follow all school rules while attending this class.

- Students should come to class prepared everyday.  Coming prepared to class would mean having a pen or pencil, folder or binder for papers from class, paper for notes and assignments, and their computers.  I do give worksheets and project handouts in class that students need to hang on it.  Most of this can also be found on the Moodle page for class.   I will also be having all of the students notes for class on the computer.  Students will have to do this as part of a homework assignment.  The next day in class students will be doing an activity that will build from those notes.  If there is anything else that is recommended for this class throughout the year I will send home a note or memo.

Once Again I am looking forward to meeting everyone and working with you all this year.  Thank you for all you do for our students and once again please contact me with any questions.
