Arts and Crafts - December

 

For the month of December, students will learn about clay techniques to create a clay bird mug. The mug will be shaped around a soda can. Students will add a handle and then decorate their mug to resemble a bird. These will be fired in the kiln. Once out, students will paint their work with glaze. The pieces will be fired again. When the pieces are finished, the glaze will have turned shiny. The mugs can actually hold liquid and be used to drink from. They are not dishwasher safe, but can be hand washed in the sink.
