Student Grades

Student Grades are in PowerSchool.

Student grades are now available for parents to view in PowerSchool.  I have graded the contracts for the week and placed the grades in PowerSchool.  Your son/ daughter will be receiving the contract with the grade each Monday.  At that time, I will explain the reasoning behind the grade.  However, I would like you to also know how to help your child to become successful at managing time at school through correctly completed contracts. Spelling Test grades are also in PowerSchool.

The most common reason for students to earn less points is lack of spelling points.  Students need to do 5 spelling points every day to practice their words for the test.  A total of 25 points is required for the entire week and should be stapled to the contract to show the work done.  I expect the work to be done in cursive and students lose points for not doing so. 

If the work is not completed at the appropriate 6th grade level of expectation, students lose points for that as well.  I encourage students to take the work home for you to see, especially when the work has not been finished in class.  Students know that work that is not finished in class becomes homework.

Students earn two points for answering each Think About Reading question in complete sentences that use the key words from the question to frame the answer.  Points are taken off for writing phrases rather than complete sentences.
