Grading:         You will be graded on all assignments.  Grades will be given on the

                        following percentages:

                                    Bell Work/Participation-5%

                                    Projects-5%

                                    Homework-20%

                                    Quizzes-20%

                                    Tests-50% (District Assessment)

Bell Work:      This will be given at the beginning of each class and is to be worked on as soon as you come into class.

Participation:  Often I will call randomly on students to answer questions or have them come up to the board to do homework problems.  Participation also includes asking questions in class or volunteering answers when called on.

Projects:  There will be one project per marking period.  These projects will vary.  Some may be a cross-curricular assignment, some may be group projects, and some may be individual.

Homework:     Homework will usually be assigned everyday.  I will check to see if it is completed at the beginning of class.  Homework is graded based on whether or not you completed it.  5 points will be given if completed with work shown, 4 points will be given if most of it is completed with work shown, etc.

Note:  No credit will be given to any homework assignment that does not have any work shown!

Quizzes:  Will be given throughout each unit.  Most Fridays quizzes will be given.

Tests:  Will be given after each major unit

  • Daily Classwork may be completed for credit. (you get one day for every day absent to make up daily work)
  • It is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed!!!!!!!!!
  • If you are absent on the day of a test, you have 1 week from when you return to make up the test. Exceptions will be made only for extended absences.
  • No make-up tests/quizzes will be given during class time. It is YOUR responsibility to make an appointment!

Supplies: The following is a list of supplies (other than your book) that will be needed throughout the course of the year. For some in-class activities, there is a limited number of supplies in the classroom. However, you will need to use the supplies at home. It is in your best interest to obtain as many of them as possible.

  • A section of a notebook dedicated to this class. All notes and homework should be kept in here.
  • TI-82 Calculator (or higher).
  • Pencils (I may have pencils for sale for 25 cents)
  • Graph Paper required in chapters 4 - 7. (available to be printed out online)
  • Ruler or straightedge (I suggest something you can see through)

NOTE:  You will only be allowed to use calculators when told so.
