Mrs. Bourdua's Varied and Interesting Biography of Education

I started teaching in September of 1975 after graduating from Marygrove College earning a B.A. in Child Development with a Z.A. endorsement. I taught fourth and fifth grades at St. Gerard's School in Detroit for 5 years. I even taught adults in G.E.D classes for about 10 years. While raising my five children, I continued to teach preschool children in 3- and 4-year preschool classes as well as Parent & Tot classes, working with children from 18 months of age. At Summit, I have taught children from kindergarten through 8th grades. The last four years I have worked with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for SRP and tutoring after school.  I was trained in D.M.I.  and Singapore Math and came back to train the Summit District teachers in the fall of 2006 and 2007. (If you have any questions regarding the Singapore Math curriculum, feel free to e-mail me, and I will be happy to help.)  In 2005, I finished my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College and use the updated information to continue to provide a quality education for your child.  This year in the Pinnacle, I will be teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math.  Mrs. Hildebrand and I will be partners in the 6th grade homeroom (the former Teal Room).  Math is my passion, I look forward to sharing my love for math with all of you!
