I have had the privilege of working for Summit Academy for approximately 19 years. I began in the Blue room when the current middle school consisted of 4 total rooms. At that time there were three cozy 4/ 5th grade classrooms. As you can see Summit Academy has definitely expanded to what it is today. The people at Summit Academy have been an extension of my family.
I began as a Paraprofessional and quickly moved into a position as North's ACES Coordinator, eventually a student teacher and then finally into a teaching position. I am a University of Michigan graduate with majors and endorsements in Science and Language arts and a minor with endorsement in ESL.
I have concluded my graduate work at Madonna University in Livonia with a masters degree in Literacy education.
My outside activities include being a Boy Scout leader/ committee member, volunteer at the food pantry,Band booster at my sons high school, wife and mother of two, walking my dogs, spending endless hours in my greenhouse and being an avid sports fan.
This school year I am excited to teach the Honors courses for 6th grade once again. As the Common Core Sate Standards are being integrated, we here at Summit Academy are setting the bar higher than ever before. The content will be challenging and I look forward to this new school year. My plan is to use varied strategies to give insight on what we are doing in our own classrooms and how we can improve individual student skills. We are constantly working on mastering what we teach our students in order that they be prepared for the following years curriculum.
This school year I will be once again teaching the honors 6th grade as well as the elective, Latin Literature.
I look forward to another wonderful year here at Summit Academy. If you have any questions , comments or concerns please feel free to contact me.
