Student Expectations

Student Expectations at Summit Academy Schools

In our continued pursuit of excellence in education, Summit Academy Schools would like to clarify our expectations for our students, academically and behaviorally.

Education is integral to maintaining the cultural and structural stability of society, whether it is viewed on a local, national, or global scale, it is in a perpetual state of flux. An effective education system is one that is adaptable to change and Summit Academy is adaptable to change.

Over the last few years, states have seriously undertaken the implementation of the new standards and state assessments to be in compliance with the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation

NCLB has required every district, school, superintendent, principal, and teacher in this country to look at new and different ways of educating their students if they are to be successful in raising academic standards and student performance as defined by NCLB.

Students need to develop positive character attributes and appropriate behaviors in order to achieve high standards in school and be good citizens as adults. Summit Academy believes that the development of a child's character and appropriate behavior is first and foremost the responsibility of the family, but schools can play a strong supporting role in reinforcing the efforts of parents. Successful schools - those with the highest levels of student achievement - do not sidestep the issue of character education. We have created a supportive learning environment that is absolutely essential for students to achieve high standards.

  • Students at Summit Academy Schools exemplify the highest level of civility, respecting community, and role modeling positive behaviors.
  • Students set high expectations which will require a willingness to work harder and longer than ever before.
  • Students expect homework.
  • Students adhere to the rigorous coursework which requires daily attendance. Absences are detrimental to academic success and ultimately meeting graduation requirements.
  • Students participate in extra-curricular activities and community service programs.
  • Students understand that punctuality is crucial to academic success in every course.
  • Students exemplify a sense of social acceptance in speech, actions, dress, respect, and integrity.
